Welcome to Creating Opportunities through Co-op , where you will have an opportunity to meet and learn from an industry expert and work independently to create a website specific to your industry. You will assist education and career life planning, by strengthening you inquiry, decision making and leadership skills.

Follow these steps to complete your

Course Schedule

 

During this course you will create a website or event related to your field of interest. You will be submitting your website to an industry expert for feedback at the end of the semester. This will provide you with information you will need to complete Module 2.

Here are some example website creation ideas for each sector:

  1. Arts and Culture – Promotion of a show, production, artist or local festival / event
  2. Construction – Promotion of construction services
  3. Justice, Community Safety & Emergency Services – Refugee services or cyber crime prevention tips / stories
  4. Business – B2B or B2C e-commerce store and service listing
  5. Sports – Promotion of a sports event, physio and rehabilitation services, stats and bio of a specific athlete
  6. Non-profit – Promotion of a fundraising event for a registered charity, global or local cause
  7. Hospitality & Tourism – Promotion of a food or tourism service
  8. Environment – Promotion of awareness of an environmental issue and how to take steps to prevent impact on the environment

Quadrant 1  weeks 1-3 – idea formulation


 

For Your Quadrant One Submission:

Create a document with the answers/requirements for the following questions/requests and upload it using the Google Form below. There are additional resources provided below to assist you .

  1. Brainstorm and select your best idea. what type of website or event you would create for your field of interest/SHSM sector. (examples listed above)
  2. What is the goal / purpose of your website/event?
  3. What is the scope what are the pitfalls
  4. What barriers would you face and how would you overcome them? Ex: accessibility, mobile users, etc.
  5. Research what powerful websites/events include? Ex: Imagery, Interactive Features.
  6. Find three (3) websites/events that serve a similar purpose and feel to what you want to achieve.
  7. Create a mind map to help find the best idea for your purpose. Add a picture of this to the document you will be uploading at the end of module 1.
  8. Create a picture mood board for your idea. Add a picture of this to the document you will be uploading at the end of module 1.

  1. Create a name and tag line idea
  2. Create a logo
  3. Answer the top five questions you should ask when creating a tagline:
  • What’s the promise you are making about your website/event?
  • How will your website/event help people?
  • Who are the people your website/event will help?
  • What other programs are competing for your partners time
  • How do you say this in a simple manner

 Quadrant 3 – Weeks 7 -9 Assess the impacts Affecting Your Website or Event


For Your Quadrant 3 Submission

Create a PDF document with the answers to the following questions and upload it using the Google Form below.

  1. Create a draft website using a website builder for your business , event campaign or portfolio. Add a link for your website/Social Media Campaign.
  2. Use the 4 P’s; Product, what are you selling or promoting, Price; What price will your target respond to; Place where will you be delivering/selling/having an event. Promotion; who is the target?
  3. dentify any external impacts of your offering – did you make any changes to your website/event?Identify an internal impacts of your offering – did you need to make any changes to your website/event?Identify Strengths, Weaknesses Opportunities and Threats of your offerings – did you make any changes to your website/event?
  4. How would you create a website or event while removing barriers to audiences? Ex: Pricing, Easy to find contact information, Easy to find product information.

  3. Include a link to your final version of your website/plan
  4. Have peers review your website and provide feedback
  5. Create the final website
  6. Define any support you may require
  7. Secure any necessary support
  8. Runa lighthouse scan of each page of your site using google crome, go to each page of your website right click anywhere on the page click “inspect’then go to lighthouse and then click “generate report”
